Tractor
John Deere 855
I have seen several local ads for affordable used rear snowblowers for tractors.

I don't know what size my tractor will handle?

My JD 855 is rated at 24 horse and 19 at the pto according to tractordata.com
TractorData.com - John Deere 855 tractor data

Is there a rule of thumb for snowblower size and horsepower?
What do you need to look for to keep out of trouble when buying a used one?

Thanks,
Glenn

Glenn -

You're probably looking at 48"-60". I wouldn't go bigger than that. Make sure
it's wider than your tractor. :)

Bearings, gearbox, chain, PTO shaft would all be things to be looked at and evaluated.

From my expierence, I'd stick with a 48"-60" to.

Glenn The rule of thumb is 5 hp. per foot of blower. I had a 54" blower on a small Ford tractor with only 13 Pto hp. and it worked well. Garry:)
