Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Snowblowing into the wind

There is no good solution. I am in the camp of lowering the chute angle and moving the windrow as I go. I will lower the angle to below parallel with the ground. Slow but works.

Thanks guys lots of info and ideas, sorry for the delay in replying just got home from spending a couple weeks in the hospital and getting my gallbladder taken out, recovery sucks cause just got a 6" dump and I can't go out and play. When I am better I will try some of the ideas.

Leonz what is that spinner window you were talking about?

I suggest foregoing the pile in that situation and using what mother nature is providing. Point the spout strait up and let is sail along with the wind as long is it isn't into the nieghbors drive.

If you keep it really loaded up, most of the snow will go where pointed even with the wind except when it is really windy and really cold dry snow. Pointing the chute down helps.

On some of my runs I just plow when its windy then come back and blow the bank away when the wind stops.

agree 100%. this is too hard on the blower.

best way to blow into the wind....a cab tractor :). What i used to dread doing is now fun.

Today i went out and scraped the horse corrals of snow, ice and frozen manure. Its 19F outside at the time...warmed up to anout 28F. Was about 80F in the cab :)

I think this year, the blower will stay beside the barn and I'll stay beside the woodstove........

Heck with it.

I'm retired anyway......:D

Going to town can wait another day..................:)

Avoid the yellow snow.

When I used a blower in the wind I found I had to run it with the chute either straight up or all the way down. I know most will say aim it low, but sometimes the wind is still too strong and backfills quickly. During those times I try it with the chute straight up and blow the snow high and into the wind. Straight up like smoke from a chimney. I let the wind grab it and disperse it away from me. Sounds strange but it does work better than trying to control the snow sometimes.
