Snowplow for Kubota RTV900

I thought I'd send photos of my completed plow setup.

I bought the plow itself, which was designed to be lifted by a winch.
I set it up for hydraulic lift.

The lift piston, which is powered by the aux. hydraulics, attaches to the front 1 1/2 inch receiver hitch.

The lift works great.

Total cost for the lift system was about $190 plus $679 for the plow itself.

I really like that set up. I'm not so handy so I went with a winch lift system:

My RTV1100 has an Kubota OEM Curtis hydro power angle. The lift is a self contained electric lift actuator which stays with the plow frame. I don't have a winch.

I have a brand new (well, 15 hours now) Kubota RTV-X1100C with the Kubota plow and it definitely has self-contained hydraulics. It mounts in the UTV's 2" front receiver and you have only one IMG_2594.JPGelectrical plug connecting it to the machine, no hydraulic connections like I had on my old JD Gator with the "PowerTach" plow. The Kubota plow gives you up, down, left, and right and actually works better than the fully hydraulic plow I had on the Gator. I was worried about a lack of downforce, but just the weight of the plow provides plenty of ability to scrape off packed snow and ice.

I too prefer the plow to float using the plow weight to follow the ground contours. If down pressure is needed I can slip a piece of pipe over the lift chain.

You guys with cabs have it pretty good. I've been looking online for at least a windshield and a roof. My tractor is also "open" so no help there.:(
Fortunately I don't have much plowing to do and it should go faster now that I have a plow, instead of using the loader on my narrow curvy driveway.

You got that right, we'd not even consider a machine without a cab. Of course, most of the work we do with these machine is in the winter.. Why did I buy a 6x6 Boss????

When you mentioned Boss, I thought you bought that Boss plow, not a Boss machine.

I had an Eagle plow mounted on my Gator for a couple years...winch lift and manual angling. It worked great for the smaller snows we get in Vermont. I'm sorry I ever sold it...
One recommendation for those who use a winch to lift the plow...get a boat trailer strap to replace the cable on your winch. The constant lifting and lowering of a plow is tough on a few inches of the cable. The boat straps handle the lifting and lowering much better.
Something like this:
