Snowplows: trip-edge or full-trip???

   / Snowplows: trip-edge or full-trip??? #11
we've been plowing since '81 with a 77 bronco, and a 71 fisher plow. it's the moldboard trip type, and works great.
i've used a few of the other style, and would never buy one myself.

i don't know about the new fishers, but the old ones are tough as nails. i think we've replace the pins a couple times, and wore out 2 cutting edges and skid shoes with ours, and haven't had any major problems...

my personal vehicles have all been Fishers. All were on Dodge trucks, Some the 3/4 rams and two on Dakota's.. The highway dept, I've used Tenco, Root, Curtis, Braun, Fisher, Diamond, Western, and Snow Kings.. The Tenco's are the Cadillac when going 11 ft or wider, the Fishers hold up best for 1/2. 3/4, 1tons.. Root is OK, Brauns are for pushing back after the fifth or so storm, and I wouldn't give you plug nickel for a Snow King..

The idea is to plow with the storm, not after the storm. If you are plowing on a regular basis while the snow is falling, it is easier on you and the truck. If you wait till the end of the storm, it will be more difficult to clear the snow from the roadway because of the amount of it. Also, it is important to have the correct tires and weight in the back of the truck. Thinner tires are better in snow than wide tires that ride up on the snow. A full bed of wood will be a good amount of ballast.
