Got my tractor stuck 2 weekends ago. Inspired by posts here about building pond rakes I had scrounged up some scraps and made one. I used an "I" beam with rebar welded on for teeth. This I hung from my boom pole (bought just for this job) and proceded to back up to the edge of the water, dropping the pond rake in and pulling forward to remove the cattails. Having anticipated getting stuck I put my next door neighbor on notice to be ready to come pull me out with his MF 1250. The rake was working well, pulling cattails out like nobodies business, on the third section, my rear wheels dug themselves in and I was stuck. Called the next door neighbor and he comes over and pulls me loose. I continued with the assault on the cattails, and after clearing about three more swipes, I got all 4 wheels buried up to the axles. Called the neighbor, but his tractor wasn't budging me. Went and got the wifes 4wd pickup. This wasn't moving me either. Hooked up the truck AND the tractor. Still not moving, and the tow strap on the truck snapped!!!
Wifey went down the road to see if one of the other neighbors with bigger tractors were available while I started trying to shovel mud from in front of the tires. I got one tire relatively clear when down the road comes a JD 5100 (I think) followed by a NH. Both of these machines are 50 or 60 HP. We hooked my tractor to the really cool custom "I" beam scraper on the 3PH of the JD and chained the NH to the front of the JD. The JD tractor starts pulling and gets his front wheels off the ground, then the NH started pulling and they got me out!!!
I decided I had had enough fun for the day and put the pond scraper away, hosed off all the mud, took off the FEL, hooked up the RFM and cut grass. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
