Pic 1 shows the mower deck still has its VIN sticker.
Another Pic, (7), shows a Dealer sticker. Most likely the original selling dealer. (Martin Bros.)
A phonecall or email will be able to determine the selling date as they will have recorded the serial number of the deck and that of the tractor it was fitted to and who they sold it to (Although they shouldn't divulge that) and the date of sale and the workshop records will even know who uncrated and assembled it.

As for the leaky engine - Yes, the Kawasaki (Both Air & Liquid cooled) is prone to leaking rocker covers - The rubber 'o-ring' gasket gets hard due to heat and loses its sealing elasticity. An easy fix.

The broken spindle - Most likely poor driving. ("Didn't even hit it hard") but someone, in the past, has.
