I do not read TBN much lately as I am spending most of my free time clearing some property or working for my employer. I am so glad I stumbled across this article and will do this on mine weekend after next. Since day 1 of owning my tractor, I have been planning on fixing this throttle issue and it quickly fell to the bottom of my very long too-do list ( and now have a long honey-do list). The same guy who installed the throttle assembly must have also installed my hydraulic filter.

No the guy who installs the filters is about an 800 lb gorilla. The guy who torques the throttle plate nuts is just a 600 lb gorilla.:D

I had some unexpected free hours today (all day :)) and decided it was time to fix the throttle. All of my parts came off easily and I lubed everything in sight with white lithium spray grease. The throttle is now very smooth and the wife will be able to move it, although I am not so sure that is a good thing... I also lubed the tilt wheel mechanism and that is also smooth as butter now.

Potential additions to instructions.
1- I had no reason to remove the Molex connector as there was sufficient room to just flop that part out of the way.

2- When putting the clam shells back together, I loosely installed the bottom screw to hold that piece in place and then snapped the top piece in place, thinking it would be an easy matter to align the parts and screw together tightly. However, after much trying and verbal exchanges with the tractor, I was unable to get the two top screws aligned and threaded into the top piece. Part of the reason was the short 10 MM socket's shoulder was hitting inside the bottom shell and would not allow the screw to go inside deep enough. I changed to a deep socket and that issue was resolved but I still could not get the parts aligned. So I removed (unsnapped) the top piece and placed it all back together loosely so I could see (barely) to align the screws with the mating threads.

BTW: The snaps on my mating pieces were very difficult to remove- each time. Had I not read this article, I would have been looking for some type of screw holding them together or more likely could have broken something.

That was pretty much my experience, I think the clamshells could have been designed a bit easier to reassemble, but hey I don't design them, I just drive them! I am glad the writeup has helped some of you.
