I need a few shaft bearings for a snow blower rebuild. 1 inch bore.
TSC wants $24.99 each.

Name brand on a quick interweb search gets them to my door at $9.99 each. (ordered and shipping confirmation received!)
Brick and mortar has to do better. The TSC offering was "import" quality nothing special. Which I'm sure is good enough.
But the mark up!

Rant over ;-)

Brick and mortar stores cater to people who can't wait. If your snowblower died in the middle of a January snow storm and you could get there and have them in an hour and be back up and running in a couple hours an extra $15 isn't going to phase too many people.

It is the same story with places like Grainger. If you need it today they probably have it, but it will cost you a lot more than other places charge for the same item.

I always check prices before buying there. For some barn door hardware they were almost double the cost of Amazon. For other stuff they have been OK. I hate to shop blind there, however, since there's a good chance I'd be paying too much.
