Thank you for all the replies. So the Rhino is the best option for sport use? I read soem of the reviews, and it sounds good.
I will mostly be using for transportation on the property. I have 70acres, mostly wooded and hilly overgrown pastures. I would like to be able to load up the fishing gear or rifles and head out for a day of fun. Hopefully, it will be pretty quiet.
How loud is the rhino compared to the RTV or other vehicles? Is the rhino more capable on the trails, is it just faster than the RTV?

We ride two on our ATV all the time. Its a Honda 450 ES.
No racing or going fast, but it works. We have carried a chain saw, ax, various tools and pulled a small trailer, all while riding two. It does a great job of getting us around on our 50 very hilly acres.

Unless you tinker with the exhaust, the Rhino is just as quiet as a regular ATV. It is actually just a shade quieter than the RTV unless you're hammering the throttle. As far as being capable on the trails, that's an understatement. Granted, I have some performance mods and larger more aggressive 27" tires on mine, but mine will go places that most ATV's riders don't dare. In 4X4 with the front and rear differential locked, I've gone up hills that ATV riders simply said "pass" on (look at the thread about 'More power and lift kit on RTV' to see a pic of one of the smaller hills I'm talking about.
That will show you that the RTV is actually plenty "capable" on trails with a a lift kit and larger more aggressive tires. The Rhino, however, is pretty well ready for "extreme" trails. Hello my wife and I purchased a Polaris Ranger 6x6 And I Cant Say Anuff good about it. we live on 18 acrs and use our polaris for logging. Moving dirt. and when we are not working with it we use it for Hunting and Fishing. It always ready for hard work or hard playing. The ride is Very good after a long day in the seat your not all beatup. Theres many freinds that have made the move to the Ranger and they tell me that they wish they had made the move sooner. the yamaha looks like alot of fun and iam sure it can get some hard work done. But I love ours and would not trade it for anything. we have had ours for sometime now Sence 98. Remember to get a Warn Winch there handy to have. As far as being able to go were four wheelers go Trust me on this one No Problem what so ever. Its the other way around can they go where I can go? I herd it all when we first got ours oh you just cant go were we can go on that thing. Well most of them own a Polaris 6x6 now. just my thoughts on it. good luck and have fun.

How does the rhino do at slow cruising speeds, kinda putting around the woods? My old ATV is a Honda Foreman. It's very reliable and does very well putting around, but it is not much of a speedster and really runs best at lwo speeds.
I think I'll pass on the tracks at this point. They look cool, but I worry about reliability on rough terrain. For the cold weather folks, does the rhino start reliably in the winter?
It really does sound like the rhino may be the better vehicle than the RTVfor me. I have had some bad luck with Polaris in the past, so that isn't really an option for me.

Check out http://www.off-road.com/atv/projects/2004rhino/digitalmeter/index.html for the money I think the Rhino is the King of the 2 seaters. The RTV is killer technology wise, but it can't compete with the Rhino in the performance area. ALot of the same features are on both vehicles.

Just to jump in, I use a Max IV six wheel amphib from Recreatives Industries, NY. We use it for hauling deer and firewood out of my swamp. I needed something that would float, because a I felt chilling a hot aluminum engine by submerging it in ice water was not a good thing. It is not the thing for deep snow, unless one has the smaller tires and snow tracks installed. Here in Nj, there isn't enough deep snow to warrant the loss of ground clearance. I get the hull hung up on old moss covered cedar stumps one in a while, but either push it off or use the winch. It reduces the damage and contamination of the deer carcass by dragging through the water, and I can get firewood from places I could not get it before. I can also put up and take down many treestands in one trip using the homemade bed to carry them in.

I've played on one of those in the years past but they are not a replacement for an ATV or the utility machines like the RTV and Rhino. They are harder to control at speed, ride like ****, and are not supported by a dealer network that makes feel comfortable with one.
Their cool the play on, but not for most owners.
