You are correct, you didn't say it. Either you implied it, or I inferred it, from what you said.

I'm just trying to stick to published information from reliable sources.
Perhaps it's that we approach answering questions differently. When I ask questions on TBN, I am looking for what others have done that worked for them. So, that's how I tend to answer questions, whether there's published information or not.

I don't think my post was overly complicated.
Perhaps it has to do with personality types. I thought whitearrow was looking for a few, simple declarative sentences about what he should do.

I am not saying you're response was like this, but I work with technical, engineering types and the standard joke about them is, if you ask one of them what time it is, they respond with paragraphs of how a watch works. Buried in one of the paragraphs, if you're lucky, is what time it is. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

For reasons I don't understand, suggesting that there are some negative side effects of Power Service seems to have ruffled a lot of feathers. I was just trying to stick to facts from an unbias source hoping to minimize arguments.

I like the idea of just using a biocide and an antigel (when needed). That's probably is the best advice so far. Any benefit from spending the money on other additives is much more intangable.

I use Power Service Diesel Fuel Supplement +Cetane Boost (white bottle). It will keep the injectors clean, reduce emissions, lubricate the injectors and pump, stabilize the fuel, prevent gelling, keep out the micros and give you a little more power. It is a good all around fuel additive.

I believe the issue is more related to your broad statement that PS is not the best product to use... You may be right in most cases, but there are several products under the PS brand name and they indicate they are for this purpose.. All Mike suggested earlier is to go to the horses mouth and see what PS offers for his application.. I accept your points regarding the cetane anhancers, more because I dont know any better on the chemical side of it and between you and SkyPup, you seem to be very credible on your chemicals.. If a guy asks what you do, its fair to just tell him what you would do.. I have learned over time not to rehash and repeat myself again and again, thats what the search function is for /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif..Dont take it wrong, we're all here to help and if someone needs info I will give my opinion/experience and unless something is blatantly wrong or doesnt make sence, I let it go.. Just my opinion..

I know that you wanted a straight answer and some have prevented that. Here is what the tech from PS has to say about this mess.

Mr. Xxxxxx,

There is a lot of information about Cetane and fuel degradation. Cetane can, when used in very large amounts, cause sediment to form and help degrade the fuel, however the Cetane would have to be used in absurd amounts. It is possible that some fuels can be negatively affected by high levels of Cetane but this is the exception to the rule and of little concern to most fuel users. Fuel will degrade just fine without any Cetane present and adding a balanced amount of Cetane will not add to the problem.

Our product is a balanced additive that improves fuel quality not diminish it. Diesel Fuel Supplement will help fuel last longer but no matter what stability package you use the fuel will degrade. You cannot stop fuel degradation you can only slow the process down. This is why we suggest that you use your stored fuel within 12 to 18 months. This will insure that the fuel will still be of good value and will burn well in the motor. As fuel ages it will become dark, sediments will form, free water can become a problem and can build up on the tank bottom. The older the fuel the more likely that bacterial and fungal problems will also occur. Even if you can keep water and microbes out of the system fuel will continue to degrade.

I would suggest that in non-winter months you use Diesel Kleen and in winter use Diesel Fuel Supplement. Diesel Kleen does not have an antigel however it contains more Cetane Boost, more injector cleaners and a better stability package.

If it Runs on Diesel Fuel it will Run Better with Power Service Products.

Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
