I tried to buy a new Kubota B series back around 1982 but the deal went sour when the financing fell through .
It was 23 years later in 2004 before i was ever again in the financial position to afford A Kubota so i bought a new 2004 BX23.
After 23 years of lusting for a Kubota I wasn't about to let green or any other color rob me out of the moment.
Similar for me, luckily I only had to wait about four years. I felt like the Deere dealer wanted to keep trying to sell me a larger unit. I wanted a small scut, only have three acres, and have a lawn mower, so I felt that even a 2305 would be a little bigger, and more expensive than I wanted. I was taking advantage 0% so Kubota had much better options. I found that for me the BX1860 hit a spot that Deere could not fill. To me in my limited tractor knowledge the 1860 was not a glorified lawn mower as the x700 series of the Deere was. I'm sure that the real tractor owners will scoff at me calling a 1860 not a glorified GT, but for those of us with simple tractor needs, and who are used to maintaining small acreages with a rake, shovel and wheelbarrow will confirm that this size tractor fills a niche that Deere missed.
About two weeks after I purchased my Kubota, a good friend decided he wanted one as well. He has significantly more property than I, 15 acres, and decided that for him the JD 2320 was a good fit. It is an awesome machine, not comparable to my BX. As he continues to compare the two, I continue to remind him that we had different wants/needs from these machines, and they are in fact intended for different uses.
I love my Kubota, and with a good local dealer, very competitive pricing and great financing options added to a good quality product made it an easy decision for me. I felt good knowing the the machine I was buying was made completely by the company that put there name on it. Engine, Kubota...Chassis, Kubota....and so on. I like it when a company builds its own product, seems like the way it should be?
