GENTELMEN: NOW SOCIAL SECURITY IS A WONDERFUL THING. AFTER U DIE THEY WILL PAY YOUR HEIRS A WOPPING $255.00. NOW WHERE CAN U GET A DEAL LIKE THAT?/w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif. iall seriousness, let them have me take control of my funds(too late for me) SS was a good idea that has gone bad.

hate to throw a question in the middle of all this fun..but here goes: was a bill passed that allowed ss folks to earn as much as they want without losing their ss benefits??? or did our govt in their infinite wisdom not pass that??

HH,

I think that there was a change in the earning limits. What the exact amount is I'm not sure...

Oh yes... I received my benefits statement from SSA. Just brings joy to my heart to see what I will receive when I retire. The differences based on retirement ages are a joke. What I found interesting is what my family could get if I were to die today. It is nealy twice the amount if I were to retire at age 62. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif My wife was looking under the sink for some chemicals after that.... /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

No wonder this system is looked on in distaste by so many of us.... /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Like the Osprey project ? Only a little over budget in money and time. Yet, still no guarantees on viability ?

You all know it is a rouse. It was a plan to assist in retirement for those unable (or unwilling /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif) to save enough for themselves. It is good for that, my mom is on it and works a full time job at seventy years old as well. But she does not believe in handouts like so many able bodies that lay around all day and draw it due to "substance abuse addictions" or some other excuse to not work. A man and woman up the street from me are BOTH on it and are younger than me, they are "chronic alcoholics /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif" or some such thing. They would come into the local Agway where my wife works and tell how they managed to work that. They aren't married so they get double benefits. They drive new vehicles and live in a nice house, he runs the auctions all year and re-sells the junk he buys at them out of his barn. What a sham, I sure am glad I am one of the "RICH" that works 60hrs a week to help them.
