Sold L3200, Time to Upgrade. GST Opinions?

No real fan of the DT transmission , sorry my dear old B7200D. Partial snycro shuttle on new Max28 much better, GST way better than that. I wish I had a button to change between GST and HST for some work however.

We have a HST B7500 and a GST L3830. The only place the GST is better than the HST is for pulling a plow (to plow the earth). Otherwise, the HST is much better for varying your speed and changing directions.

I will be testing out the GST and HST next week on a l3560. I will make my decision then which one I prefer. Either is a huge upgrade from my non- synchro DT I had on the l3200. Heck even a FST would be an upgrade. Either way I'm leaving with an GST or a HST.

The GST is probably the slickest gear transmission to come down the pike. It tries to be the best of both worlds, nearly the operator convenience of the HST, with the efficiency of a straight gear transmission. One thing about them is the complexity, as they are much more complex than a Hydrostat transmission. One look at the workshop manual will tell you that. But on the other hand, lots of people have and love them and we don't hear of many problems with them either. It is what ever floats your boat, if you like the GST by all means get it. I am sticking to the HST for my needs. But if I wanted a tractor for plowing and could get one with GST, it would be what I would have.
