Solenoid Valve

Hello Hydraulic Gods, Just a question ? I'm in the process of adding a hydraulic thumb to my bradco 3375 backhoe mounted on a kubota b7800 and i would like to control it with a 12 volt solenoid valve with a switch on one of the backhoe control handles i will be conecting the valve from the power beyond plug on the valve bank of the backhoe and running through the solenoid valve back to tank. My question is what type of solenoid valve will i need i know the system is an open system but i can't figure what type to use , tandem center , 3 way spring center , workport blocked in neautral , at this point i"m just getting more confused the more i read . Any help will be greatly apreaciated.

Assuming you are using a double acting cylinder, you will need an open center valve with spring return to center and the work ports blocked in neutral. This is the typical valve configuration for a DA cylinder.

What valve are you looking at? The Eaton Vickers DG4V-3 from Surplus Center?

Hello Mad thanks for the reply ! Yes i have looked at that valve dg4v-3-8c-vm-u-66-61 and i have purchased from S C before but i have been looking on ebay for a better deal and was not sure of the right valve, Also S C wants 50.00 for the subplate and 10.00 for the conections and i think they are a little high for surplus . But thank you for showing me the lite on what i will need.

BTW, Surplus Center is not really totally surplus stuff. At one time they were but a lot of their stuff is now direct from the manufacturer. They are a Prince and Chief distributor among others.

Their prices are very competitive if not the cheapest for the identical item. For that valve and several others, you will still need the subplate as the D03 is pretty much a standard.

Hello guys thanks for the info attached is the page of solenoid valve symbols if not mistaken #8 is the valve that i'm looking for sping centered p to t, a and b blocked -open center with work ports blocked in neautral.
