Anyone ever use or own one? I had my heart set on a new Husqvarna after the old McCullough died. Was just trying to make my final decision on which model when I came across a deal on a Solo that was too good to pass up. If it only runs a year or if it got relegated to back-up after a single use, it was still a great deal, it was that cheap. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with one.

I'll take the lack of response to mean no one has seen or used a Solo chainsaw. Thanks anyways.

Well it seems you are the only one SO… you will have to let the rest of us know (after you have used it) how it is, you might even post a picture… /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif What it costs… /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif and where did you find it. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif KennyV.

Well, if more than one is out there, it wouldn't be "Solo". /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

(Sorry, pre-holiday giddyness)

Usually, chain saw threads go on to the point of nasuea (Stihl, Husky, brand xyz).
I for one, have never heard of Solo. I looked at their website and they seem to have an interesting lineup.

Maybe give lawnsite.com a try.

Good Luck!

I agree Gomez, I've read some of those threads. Anyhow, I got it going today, it cuts great. But then again, what doesn't with a new chain. For any who care, the website is www.solousa.com. I bought the 650 model, 51cc, (3.3 hp) 18" bar, compression release, brake, adjustable bar lube, lube doesn't continue to pump if the saw is idling. It's lighter than either a Husky or a Stihl. I read a few comparison reviews of them online, including one from Popular Mechanics. They rated it third behind the Stihl and Husky, ahead of about four others.

I really bought it because a local dealer was having a big sale, he may have been going out of business. Retail was $340, paid $65 (yes, sixty five) brand new in a sealed box. Another guy there was buying a larger model, and was a logger, said it was a great unit. In spite of my wish to own a Husqvarna, I had to buy it.

I've had one for about two years now. Quite happy with it. Bought at Costco for about $120. Mine doesn't have the oiler cutoff at idle. My FIL prefers it to his Stihl. The solo is much lighter and cuts like crazy. After it was broken in a bit, I fiddled with the mix screws a bit to get a good balance between easy starting and good idling when hot.
