- Kubota M7040 cab/hyd shuttle - current, Kubota L3400 - traded
I took the morning off work today and checked out the Canadian Farm Equipment show in Toronto at the International Centre.
I was mostly interested in seeing the various brands of compact tractors side by side so to speak.
Kubota had a pretty big presence with a number of models on the floor including the L4400 HST and a L3940 HSTC. The L4400 is very much the same in look and feel as my L3400. I hadn't quite realised but the L3940 is physically larger than the L3240/L3540 and the same size as the L4240/L4740.
The Kubota Canada MSRP prices are still pretty much in the stratosphere. A L3240HSTC with no loader has an MSRP of about $29k. They seem to have monthly programs but it is surprising to me that they haven't just done a general MSRP reduction like John Deere has for Canada to compete with the cross border sales and with JD, Kioti and Mahindra.
There were a couple of the Cub Cadet - Yanmar machines. Pretty sharp looking.
I was surprised that NH did not have a display. The JD display left much to be desired -weren't many machines. I was hoping to be able to compare the the JD 4x20 cab with similar sized Kubota machines for size and general feel.
One thing that caught me off guard was that Landini and Mcormick had some pretty nice compacts. They appear to be identical and very much the same as the Massey compact that I saw there. Seems like there are one or two factories in South Korea that are churning out a lot of different brands of compacts. They also seemed to be very similar to some Mahindras. All seem to have Mitsubishi engines and the fit and finish was quite nice. Loader capacities were pretty awesome too - ~2200 lb.
Kioti had a big display. Nothing really new there that I didn't know of. They did not know when a DK40/45se with a cab would be out.
I have to say that I was most impressed / caught off guard by the quality / fit and finish of the Mahindras, Landinis and Mcormicks.
Here the Kioti dealer network seems to be growing well among the lesser known brands.
All in all, fun to check out some tractors.
