I have a 36 acre wood lot across the street from my house. Last spring two kids in a CJ7 decided to go up my logging road to the top of the hill. They got stuck halfway up there and tore my road up real bad. My neighbor called me to inform me of what was going on as the road up the hill is 200 yards down the road near his house. I called the police and proceeded over in my truck and blocked them in. They came down the hill in the Jeep covered with mud. They asked me to move. I replied with, right after the police get here. I suggested that both of them go sit in their Jeep untill the police arrive. They asked why I called the police? I replied with, Do you just go around destroying peoples property? I was not worrying too much about these kids as I was packing, if you know what I mean. The cops came over and asked what was going on. I told them what the kids had done. The officer asked, what would you like me to do? I told him to run their records and see if they have had any trouble with the law. If so, arrest them. If not, I will have a talk with them about destoying peoples property. Both kids were clean and had never been in any trouble. They offered to fix the ruts also. I told them to never go places off road without asking the owners first. I also told them that I would fix the ruts very easily with my neighbors tractor and not to worry about it. Both of them were 17 years old and scared to sh-t when the cops arrived. They both thanked me and said that would be their last venture into the woods like that. I hope what I did helped straighten them out a bit.
