I tried out my new $80 Harbor Freight power washer today for the first time. Decided to see how it would work on some dried mud and bugs on my new truck. I was paying close attention to the surfaces I was cleaning to make sure no damage was being done to them with the high pressure water. On the chrome grill in the front some traces of bugs were left after cleaning on them with the Fan spray pattern, so I decide to get a little more aggressive with a Stream spray pattern. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Can you see where this is going? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

After a bit I take a break and sit down in front of the truck to discover that I have failed to keep the stream on the chrome grill 100% of the time (wasn’t really trying to). Well, everywhere that stream of water hit the radiator it bent the crapola out of the fins. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I wanted to kick myself real hard. Maybe reading this will save someone else from wanting to kick themselves someday. I hope so. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Yeah, we used to have some of those plastic fin combs at my previous plant. Don't know about here. The big problem would probably be getting the grill out of the way to work on it.

It's not really bad enough to effect the performance, but bad enough to want to kick myself everytime I see it. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I know how you feel. We have that problem some when the wash crew has a new guy washing our trucks.
Of course, many moons ago I was putting a winter front on a Thermoking(refer unit), drilling holes for the snaps..........

BIGUN, I think I should kick you all the way back to Texas /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

On second thought, I'd get too tired. I guess you can stay /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

How is that unit? Build quality? Obviously it seems to have enough pressure. I am thinking of buying one of those, but have been worried about it being "cheap" (well, too cheap....everything from HF is "cheap") /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Seems to work fine right now. Have only run it an hour or so.
Will have to wait and see how it last long term.

The main thing on my Campbell Haus is to shut off the power when it is not spraying water for more than a minute or so. Something about heat damage.
