The weather's been nice the past few days, so I had my new L3800 out yesterday to play around with it since I haven't had a real chance to use it since I bought it. I started digging out one of the many large pine trees that I want to remove, so I was using the BH77 hoe for the first time. The BH77 has a separate operators seat. I felt a little cramped sitting there. Well, not so much cramped, but the levers to operate the hoe sit between my knees. With my old BX22, the levers set out in front of my knees. I am hoping it is just something that I have to get used to. When I would move the left lever to the left, I kept hitting my left knee and vice versa. I thought about maybe bending the levers forward, but I would really hate to do that on a new machine. I'm sure if Kubota felt that they should be more forward, they would have positioned them that way.

BTW, the BH seat is adjusted the whole way back.

what your finding is the difference between a single seat and two seat backhoe. For the most part, all the ones with two seats are like that.

I thought the same thing about mine when I first got it. You get used to it.

One of the reasons I want an L45 instead of an L4400 or MX4700 with BH. The seating position on the L45 for backhoe work is a dream and so much more comfortable. And let's not talk about the creep mode...wow, that would surely help me this spring as I dig drainage ditches.

I did want the separate seat because on my BX, I got tired of turning the seat. It is easier just to flip the BH seat down on this one. I got more seat time yesterday and it didn't seem quite as bad this time. It may be something to just get used to. I have enough leg room, just the levers are close to my knees. I also noticed that the levers are very tight which doesn't help, but this is a new machine, so I'm sure that they will loosen up and break in after some time. I do love the power of the BH on this machine. Huge difference from my BX. This is also my first time having a thumb and I see there is a small learning curve to using it.

I have a Woods 7500 hoe and the seat is mounted on "u"channel and that is mounted at an angle with many holes to pin the seat at. the further the seat is raised the further it gets from the controls. Look under your seat and see if it is mounted in the same general way.Your may be adjustable in some fasion as well.
