Something thats been bothering me.

That is suspicious that its blank. I have owned over a dozen Fords and all as a axle code. It something like 31 or B6. On Fords, if its two numbers its usually a open diff, but if its a letter then a number its a limited slip diff.

This is not right. A 4L10 axle is a Ford 8.8" axle used on Explorers and Rangers, not Expeditions. It is a 4.10 LS though.

The tag will also have the pinion size stamped on it (9.75 or 10.5, for example). If the tag is stamped 8.8 4L10 , it is the incorrect tag. If it is stamped 9.75 4L10, then you have a 9 3/4"" ring gear witha 4.10 limited slip rear end.

The wifes F350 has a tag on the axle that says "4L10" and it is a Sterling 10.25 axle with 4.10 gears and a limited slip. The previous owner said it was changed to 4.56 gears but I pulled the diff cover off and it had 410 stamped on the end of the pinion.

I guess I was miss informed. I thought the 4L10 was only a code for the 8.8 Makes things confusing.

Either way its a 4.10 with a limited slip.
