Something to carry my rifle in?

I took a look at this post hoping somebody had a real slick answer that I could adapt for: Where can I mount the chain saw? SteveV

Same answer: Check out the ATV accessories.

OK, let me get my two cents in... I guess I am just too cheap to spend $50-80 for a hard ATV case and then get some kind of mounting hardware for the tractor... I went to Wal-Mart and got a $7.00 soft sided case that had plenty of padding, measured it for my .22 and AR, cut the case off so that about 3 inches of stock sticks out the back end, and mounted it to the front-end-loader frame with some wire zip ties. It works great. It is protected by the FEL frame on the outside. The rifle is as fast to get to as any rifle scarbbard I have every seen. I have been using this set up for about a year now. Also mounted this way it is not noticable.... One thing on the all-weather case, the rifle is only out there if I am... and if it gets a little wet or dusty it comes inside and gets wiped off when I do. All the rifles I carry are to be used, the pretty ones can set at the house and stay in a display case.... As for carring a rifle in the field other than trespassers it is those damm armadillos that put holes in the fields.... Would hate to lose some live stock with a broklen leg. Two years ago tore an axle out form under a hay wagon, only $350....

A great idea, and sounds like just what I had in mind. Maybe the FEL frame was just too obvious for me to see. I was stuck on some sort of rifle rack mounted on the ROPS somehow, but your method should be perfect. Seems like I never see the cayotes until I'm bush-hogging the pasture and then when I'm 1/4 mile from a rifle they run across the field!
