For some odd reason I find Firewood prices in NH to be very high and sometimes scarce(have a spot near the white mountains) - but you guys are surrounded by trees and forest. Down here I can get fireword all season long pre-cut for less than me doing it myself, or for free if its asked of prior to the season. I dont bother with cutting and storing, just dump it because its costs so little, not worth the work to spit, stack & store.

I like to split the cord and 1/2 or so I burn a year. Now, if I had to burn 3-4 cords a year I may break down and buy a splitter, but the little bit I do a heavy maul and a few wedges do the trick.

Just an update: No pictures but since I dug a ramp under the ball, once the ball was out I backed the Dump truck into the ramp and pushed the stump on to the truck. Dropped it off at the dump and went on the way station - 3,323 Lbs.
