Sometimes the wife is right...

I have been accused of overkill in the past, but this takes the cake... I though some of you might enjoy this....

Yesterday I was building some sides for a 21' flatbed trailer and seemed to be taking forever. The wife wanders into the shop and notices the precision jointery, planed boards, and smooth plywood... And then she lets the hammer fall. "I thought you were building a trailer to go TO GO TO THE DUMP?"

I just smiled a dumb smile and put away the band saw, miter saw, planner, sander, drill press, and the table saw that I use for furniture bulding.

Then I rediscovered what you can do with a good old skill saw.... You really can quickly build sides for a trailer good enough to go the the dump!

Anyway... I thought some of you would get a kick out of this...

RM ...I'm laughing pretty hard. Just the other day I was putting doors on some newly built storage lockers. My freind shows up and sees me trim up the the lockers with some 1x4 cedar. Then sees me lining up the doors perfectly. He then asks "Are planning on putting that in your dining room when you are done?" I tell him of course not. He said well quite acting like your build fine furniture and put the door on so people can put their beach chair and sand toys in there!! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Sometimes it takes someone else to come along to make you realize your being alittle **** /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

My wife is not allowed in my outbulding/shop. To enter, you must know the pass word, and only me and my dog Howie have that priviledge.

Just tell her that you perfer to do it the old world craftsman way. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I tend to do things like that. Overbuild. But I got to say, the stuff does not break. And also, you may need to pick up some antiques with it.

To be totally honest here. If I had a shop. My wife would absolutely be welcome to enter.

Just kidding guys/girls. I think more of my wife than MossRoad does his PT. She can treat my things as if their are hers.

I would not try to keep my wife out of my shop either. She is always out there building something. She is an art teacher and builds some pretty amazing projects, some of which translates into projects for the kids at school. Right now she has designed and is building a large flower and rock garden and it is going to be a sight. She is doing it herself (one of those artist things) and I only supply muscle when needed. Trying to keep her out of my shop would be next to impossible.
