Source For 3pt PTO Drive Shaft Replacments

Somehow, I sheared the yoke on my JD660 tiller. Anyway, they want $383.24 for a new PTO drive shaft. I think I'm the one being shafted. Even the yoke by itself is $330.75.

To fair, it does have a slip clutch, but I'm thinking a generic replacement shaft is going on that thing.

Other than TSC and Gebo's, anybody got a recommendation for a good source to get PTO shafts?

Any of the mail order houses will have what you need. Try Valu-Bilt or Agri-Supply.

Is the break something a good welding or machine shop could fix? Another probably useless suggestion is, most dealers have a graveyard out back, maybe you could peruse a few and find something that would work.

If you have TSC store near you they stock some PTO shafts.

Gary, when you say "yoke," do you mean the u-joint yoke? I'm a little confused as to what yoke you mean. If it's the u-joint, you can purchase a u-joint very cheaply and have it welded on. Probably much quicker than waiting on the shipment of a PTO drive shaft. I know my New Holland dealer has PTO u-joints off-the-shelf and I bet your JD dealer does too.

Yes, the yoke on the u-joint broke. It it were a simple yoke, no problem, but it's the yoke on the slip clutch. You can't easily replace the yoke on the slip clutch as it's an assembled item and not easy to take apart, fix and put back together. JD wants $330 for that assembly. When it broke, other things came apart on the slip clutch and basically, it's ruined.

I just got back from TSC and they could sell me a replacement drive shaft for their King Kutter tillers, but at $300.

I'll try some of the on-line guys you all recommended.

Just to let you know, I bought a PTO shaft with slip clutch rated at 33HP from that same eBay sellor. It cost me $117.00 and $18.00 shipping. He sent it out right away. This shaft is for a project so I have not tried it yet but it looks real good. I'd recommend getting one from him if that's what you need.

I emailed Buck today to ask a few questions. I'm not completely sure how they rate the yoke sizes, but I think the one I broke was a Series 4.

Gary, I just checked CCM and they have both a series IV and V tiller drive shaft with clutch. The Series IV is listed as $158. Here's a link. Scroll to the bottom of the page.

I just called them and the guy who handles the PTO shafts won't be back until Thursday afternoon. Buck hasn't gotten back to me yet and the Agri Supply was out of stock. Uhhhh!
