I need to find a replacement starter for an old JD 130 lawn tractor. My John Deer dealer has a price of almost $400 for this item. Does anyone know of a source for new or salvage parts for JD products?

Or even if you have an old JD130 sitting around in the junk heap? The part number is AM102628.

What brand of engine is in your JD130 (Kawasaki)? I would go to a local small engine repair shop that services that brand and get a price from them.
Also most starters can be rebuilt, get a price on that too.
Check eBay you may find one listed there.

I carried my starter on my 1964 1010 industrial to a local auto electric shop and got it refurbed for 90 bucks!!

Ditto on the rebuild. I had my old Gravely starter rebuilt at a place in St Charles. If you can't find something out by you in DeKalb, that wouldn't be too far for you to drive to save a few hundred bucks. I can probably find the name if you're interested.
