I'm building a hydraulic gauge wheel for my new to me rear blade. I'm trying to source a wheel/rim combination that I can use for the gauge wheel. I was thinking about using a golf cart tire/rim but I don't know if I would constantly be getting flat's, then I thought of using a snowmobile tire/rim combo which may still be a good option??

I was thinking that my best and most worry free option, would probably be a wheel similar to a tail wheel from a rotary cutter. Although, I would like to either use a considerably wider wheel than you normally see on a rotary cutter, or possibly two wheels together to get a bigger footprint. Since I'll be using this in soft soil I think the single standard tail wheel from a rotary cutter may sink into the soil.

Here is a drawing from the Landpride manual for what they use... (edit: I'll post it in the next post, having trouble with photos.)

I like the dual wheel design the best, but may stick with the single if I can find a wide wheel, and because it would be "simpler". Landpride wants considerably more for the gauge wheel setup than I'm willing to pay, hence building it myself.
