Tractor
JD4310/eHydro/R4/Rear SCV/
Hi - The NH dealer I'm considering buying a tractor from deals exclusively with NH and Southern implements. He is steering me to Southern as he states it is a better value, i.e., equal or better quality to NH at a lower cost. Of course, they always give you a better deal if you buy implements with the tractor so there is an incentive to buy this brand.

Any opinions on the quality of these implements? Specifically, I'm looking at purchasing a rotary cutter and box scrapper. They seem to be a small company as I could not find a web site on their products.

In contrast, the Kubota dealer sells Woods implements. He has all kinds of Woods pamphlets and they look to have a good web site.

Thanks.

What size tractor are you looking at? Manual/hydro? Do you have plans for other implements in the future? I would be a little leary of going with a company if you can't find them on the web. There should be a lot of dealers within an hours drive of you. A tractor is a major purchase and checking out the different makes/options is a good thing. I purchased a Kioti after looking for a year. The price was good and I was able to afford a 30 hp. Here is the link to thier website, it also shows where the dealers are in your area. I'm looking at a NH TC33DA with HST. With a 14LA loader, loaded R4 tires, front bumper, block heater, and skid steer compatible quick attach bucket - I'm being quoted 18.3K.

I too have searched all around...here's what i found on Southern:

I think a lot of companies buy from a few manufacturers and put their name on it and jack the price up. I have either a southern or a worksaver (no name generic" 48" box blade that I am perfectly happy with. It is built for a full size tractor and it is easily heavy enough built to handle anything my GC2300 can dish out. You will find the main difference is in the thickness of the materials and the cross piece, the way the teetch adjust and quantity, and the way the blade connects to the 3PH.

I owned a Southern rotary cutter a few years ago. It was a 5ft. model and I was pulling it with a Ford 2600. It did an excellent job. I traded it when I purchased a larger tractor.
