Speaking of rebuilding cylinders???

a spanner wrench will often not take the tourque since the pin hole is pretty shallow, what you need is to get something around it, a thick piece of pipe with a setscrew to go into the hole and a handle of some sort welded to it will be cheap and work best

Great idea on the pipe, just may have something that will work. Know I have a 2 or 3 foot piece of 1 inch square tubing that will make a good handle.

exactly!! that will more than likely work much better than a storebought spanner wrench, and cheaper too im sure. after all if ya didnt like saving money you never would even have it apart, you would just pay someone to do it!

Success, the pipe spanner worked like a charm. Had to use a helper pipe to give me more leverage but the rod nuts finally gave in and I was able to get the seals out. Bought new seals and O-rings for both cylinders for just under $50.00. All that's left is cleaning everything up and re-assembling.

Figure TBN saved me $250.00 on this little project.. Thanks... can't say how much I appreciate the help.

glad to hear it worked, its amazing how much torque some hyd cylinder parts take to dissasemble, i have worked on cylinders that involved making heavy wrenches and pushing on them with the bucket of a backhoe, cheater pipes just wouldnt cut it!
