I have an old PHD that appears to be a Speeco. Works fine, no leaks. I need a new auger bit but all the auger bits I see require a 2" output shaft on the PHD whereas the output shaft on my PHD is only 1 3/8". Anyone know of an adapter that can fix this situation?

I did email Speeco. They promptly responded back but unfortunately they do not sell an adapter. I think the standardization to 2" must have occurred quite a number of years ago because I've seen nothing less than 2" on any website that deals with PHDs.

Wouldn't an adapter simple be a tube with an OD slightly smaller than 2" and and ID slightly larger than 1 3/8" with a hoel in it. If you can't find one, any body with a machine shop or even a drill press ought to be able to make one easily.

If you are going to make one use a tough steel. Like 4140 . I made one once from cold rolled and it had some problems. Can't remember exactly what though.

Sorry about that, I was not talking about the adapter. Doesn't Speeco sell new auger bits (and/or replacement tips) for your PHD? ...they should be 1-3/8"... or did they change over to 2" also?

Speeco no longer makes anything in 1 3/8"....not even an adapter.

Yes AndyMa, what you described is about all there is to it. The only hangup I can think of is the wall thickness which would need to be around 1/4".
