Speedmatch & Cruise upgrade - a must buy?

I guess I would not agree on it being good for loader work, that is if I understand the speed match at all. But how I understand it is the you can give yourself a range on your hydro, or set yourself a maximum speed. When using my loader just before I hit the pile I like to give it some good ummph and put the hydro down a good ways. If speed match does what I think it does you won't be allowed to do that. Like I said I may not understand it completely.

Maybe someone can tell me Im wrong and explain it better to me.

With such incredible control using hydrostatic, it seems it pretty much eliminates what in essence is a duplication of whats already there. It's like an insurance button, but I think the hydro pedal(s) already pretty much takes care of it. If going to fast in the stall is an issue, you can still slow the engine speed down and/or drop the transmission into a lower range. Low is already going to be in the 0 to 4 mph or less already at full engine speed. If your worried you might need it initially and you want it for $100, you should get it, otherwise, leave that switch blank.

OH, NO! the missing option space, something I can't stand... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Actually Deere did a pretty good job of making it NOT look like "the blank space for the option you were too cheap to buy" like car manufacturers are want to do.

I have dropped a line to the dealer, if I can install it myself, if so, I'll pass on it. If they have to install it, I'll get it done while it's there...

Thanks all!

Dealer says I can install them myself, so I'll wait till I need them.

$100.00 isn't a big deal, but I have SO many things hitting right now, it's nice that it can wait...

Mike-
Concerning available switches, I dunno, but you might be able to find out who supplies these to JD and get some from them. Otherwise, similar ones shouldn't be too hard to find- rocker switches are the "in" thing right now- a lot of truck manufacturers are using them. I'll probably use toggles and the screw on weatherproof boots. These have a threaded metal base and screw onto the barrel of the switch in place of the outer jam nut.
