Re: Spencer\'s Pole Barn Project

I didn't enjoy taking the chainsaw to my pole barn but it had to be done.

Re: Spencer\'s Pole Barn Project

I drilled a hole through the pole and put some 1/2" rebar through it. Then I lifted up on the rebar with my forks. The concrete I had poured around the base of the post was larger than the diameter up the top of the hole. That piece of rebar held up pretty well but I later had to switch to a piece of 1/2" pipe.

Re: Spencer\'s Pole Barn Project

The ground was quite frozed so I had to take my propane torch to it to thaw it out. Then I chipped away at the ground to make the hole larger.

All better now, just a wasted Saturday.

Let the ridicule begin!

Re: Spencer\'s Pole Barn Project

Never ridicule something that will happen to most of us.
Was very happy to see your post again but sure was sorry for the trouble you had to go through.
Now that the weather is starting to moderate you will be working again on the pole barn, we all are waiting for pictures of the progress.

Re: Spencer\'s Pole Barn Project

Sorry you had so much trouble,

Ridicule? I have done worse, and almost done much worse.
One day I was not paying attention to where I was going and almost put one of the forks through the side of my truck /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif.
Stoped just in time. What a mess that would have been. The heavy duty set of forks would have gone right through the truck.
