Spider Webs? Here\'s a neat trick.

I may be the only one who hasn't thought of this before, but just in case I'll tell my tale.

When our house was built the ceiling in our garage ended up sprayed textured sheetrock (yea I know, dumb but that's another story). Since I often tinker in there at night with the doors open, it attracts lots of bugs. Lots of bugs mean lots of spiders and lots of webs.

Ever try to get spider webs off a textured ceiling? No fun. Brooms and leaf blowers just move them to new locations. I open the doors, bride shuts them. Saga plays out over and over.

Just finished rolling floor with epoxy a few days ago. Roller, handle and tape still there, wonder if this will work?

Wrapped a paint roller with masking tape reversed and WAA-LAA! Grabs those little suckers and rolls em up pretty as you please.

Ceiling is clean, doors are open, wife is happy, life is good!

Thanks Heloise!

Just kidding. I HAVE tried to get spider webs off a textured ceiling and it's true, they are almost impossible to get off. That sounds like a good working idea. I hate textured ceilings for just that reason. They are almost impossible to clean. I won't go into the details, but try getting ketchup off one. You don't realize how much stuff can end up on a celing until you can't clean it off. Especially when you have kids. Green jello also pops to mind.

Chocolate syrup. Bleach won't touch it. That kid is now 23, and is no longer quite so afraid of the old man, so when he next comes for a visit I'm going to try to get the true story behind that.

Yeah, I always wondered how ketchup got on the ceiling. Little splashes of it hear and there. Then I saw my kid put ketchup on a hot dog one day, and she slammed the bottle down on the table with the lid open. It was a squeeze bottle. Well, pop!... and up to the ceiling it went. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The masking tape sounds like a solution! Thanks.

By the way, if you're ever given an old oil lamp that hasn't been used for years, don't try lighting it for the first time below a popcorn textured ceiling. Don't ask me how I know.
