Thanks for the replies. This afternoon I tested the tractor in several different areas on my property. It appears to depend on the soil type and moisture level as to whether or not the tires will loose traction or not. Where the soil is clay, slightly moist with grass on top the tires grab and do not spin. In other areas where I have good top soil, the tires will spin easily. Thanks again.

I have the same tractor...At PTO RPM tractor should break traction or practically kill the engine. My opinion and my experience with my TC 40D.

make sure you are using your lowest gear range when pushing heavy objects. lite foot on the pedal if wheels do not slip ask you dealer to check your hydro pressure. The wheels should slip if you are pushing against something. we have had to replace a couple hydros on tc35-40-45's rite from the factory. because of improper assembly or machining tollerance. good luck!

I am in the lowest gear, "I" & "turtle" & I am lightly pressing the hst pedal. I can get the tractor to spin in some situations, but others not. From the other posts this sounds normal. Are you saying the wheels should "always" spin if you are pushing against something stationary? I was just about convinced that everything was o.k. but now I'm wondering again. Also, is there a way to check this without having the dealer check it?

Thanks again

My TC45D pretty much does the same thing at times, depending on the angle I am pushing with the loader and the type of soil. I have found a "sweet spot" with my pedal which almost always will spin the tires. Maybe I should be spinning the tires more, but one time when I snapped a chain, I realized just how much the tractor was pulling. Please let us know what your dealer says.

no they should spin in 90% of all situations..It would be hard for you to test this it takes a special fitting that cost 45.00 for the dealer to buy.

Gentlemen,

I would like a little advice and clarification on this subject. I have a new TC40D. This afternoon I was using it to move dirt from a large pile. I put it in "I", turtle, 4wd, and 2500 rpm. Moving into the pile, I thought I would see if I could spin the tires. Not at all. I was pressing the pedal very lightly, and it wouldn't even labor the engine. If I pressed alot, it would labor, but no stalling. I tried 2wd, and after a few attempts, was able to spin the tires very slowly. The ground is a compacted pad, very hard and very dry. The rear tires are loaded with water, and there is a 758C on the back. So experts, should I be talking with the dealer? I know he's going to say the usual dealer song and dance, "that's normal"...

John, I just plain don't know, but I'm guessing everything may be normal. You just may have enough traction with loaded tires and backhoe that it won't spin the tires.

John,

I think everything is O.K.. The hydo tranny is completely different than any other tractor I have ever driven and has taken some getting use to. However, I am extremely happy with the tractor and the power it has and I now believe the tires spinning is completely situational (for my tractor at least).

It's been my experience, (L3710 37hp, hst), if I'm up against an immovable object, I'll either lose traction, spinning the tires or if the ground is just right - like your, I'll run out of HP, lug the engine and stall. If your tractor doesn't spin the tires, or lug and stall I think you have a problem.
