Well all the parts and pieces are on the way from Northern Tool for the TBN #1 project. I put the 3pt splitter through its paces today. A local cow rancher had a huge scaly bark hickory fall during a wind storm and he donated it to do some testing. My son and I cut 16 blocks 18" long 23" in diameter. The little splitter amazed me in this green hickory. With the 12" wedge height I couldn't blow through the middle of these big blocks but it had no problem with the 165 MF at flat idle chewing off chunk after chunk. I was worried about the retract time but it really wasn't an issue. We were just using the I Beam only haven't added the work tables yet or log stops didn't want to do that until I was sure of welds and flex. And I can tell ya even letting the splitter all the way onto the ground rolling those 200lb plus blocks around on that beam wasn't a fun experience. And on almost every split as soon as that initial split happened I was able to shift to high volume and blow right through. For my first build I am very satisfied. Now I will finish the tables and paint the unit and its done. I will post some pics of the before tables and paint tomorrow along with some of the blocks were busting.
