Splotches on my hood?

The type of plastic I do not know, but the color is through the material, NOT painted...At least on the 4x00 and 4x10 series machines.

Edit: I just the types you listed...This is it I guess

Polyproplene- Same color inside, and out sort of dull appearance

If it is polypropelene, (color cast plastic), you can buff it like paint, you just have to use a very low speed polisher, because it will melt. But, you can put a shine back on it. I have sanded scratches out of it and buffed the shine back. It is very time consuming though.

You can paint it, if you do it right, when it starts to look bad.

I used Meguiar's diamond cut 2.0 in the cream colored bottle and my little Turtle wax electric buffer, most came out but I did not spend a week on it either. Too much acid in the soil? It was a muddy ditch I was trying to brush hog where they put in a gas line, in the middle of my field.

Have you tried a coat of Armour All for protection?

No, I usually just wax and buff.
