Mahindra 4110
I spoke to a Mahindra dealer on the phone the other day about a 4110 he had at his dealership. I had a nice discussion with him about the 4110, and he seemed to be most impressed with the machine and the dependability that the 4110 has. He told me that he purchased one of them for himself, and uses it as a loaner tractor when servicing customers' tractors. The price of $18,500 was pretty consistent with what some of you mentioned a few weeks ago. This 4110 includes the quick attach bucket, the only option I think I would need to add would be the QA bale spear for the loader, and possibly getting a couple of hooks welded onto the loader bucket.

I've stopped at a number of dealers after hours, even took the wife with me. She grew up driving tractors on the farm, and will be driving what ever we buy, so I thought I might be able to get her to get more into the tractor buying excitement by taking her with me. The only tractor I have been able to get much of a comment from her about has been the Mahindra, she really liked the 4110 when we looked at it. She didn't care appear to care anything at all about the New Holland and Kubotas we have looked at, doesn't even think much about even looking at the John Deeres. I think she will be pleased (or as much as a wife can be during a tractor purchase) should I choose the Mahindra, which is looking pretty likely heading into the drive and test stage.

He spoke in glowing terms about the Mahindras, except the 4500. He said the farmers who purchased the 4500s complained that it was underpowered for its size. Due to those complaints he doesn't carry the 4500 any more.

He does have what sounds like a good price on the 4wd 5500 w/loader, at $22,500.

keith,i own a 4500,although i'm not a "farmer" in the true sense of the word,i can tell you the 4500 is not under- powered.i have a 6' tiller that i have sunk all the way to the skids and the tractor doesn't even know it's there!the only thing i would do differently next time is to get 4wd..whatever model you choose i'm sure you will be happy with the mahindra.

How could you not make your wife happy? besides its a
pretty red! I was stuck between Blue or Red, my wife and daughter pushed for the Red , my son was neutral, with the price difference, and all else being equal or better it just made sense
All kidding aside, she is right! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif go for the Mahindra

Keith, I also took my wife tractor shopping.
With the flat platform, adjustable seat, adjustable steering colum and easy shifting she liked the 4110 too.
One of her first questions was "can we get a 3 point mount finish mower so we can have more lawn?"
She already does about three acres of lawn mowing with the 18 hp 44" cut garden tractor.
