Everything I read says the foam is much more effective than cellulose. Also, cellulose can't be used for the roof, I guess because it won't stick.

It is difficult separating the real objective studies from hype by the foam industry, but my impression is that foam is superior.

If I were looking at new construction this is the way I would go. Fireproof. Termite proof. Tornado proof. Earthquake proof. And reportedly the least expensive form of new construction.

I worked for a semi trailer manufacturer for 18 yrs and this is the same as we put in the reefer trailers we built,at one time they were using it to strengthen then floors in some models with this high density foam.
True it is very costly,we had portable units that we used for rework, they were about half the size of 20lb lp bottles and they told us that these portable units cost around $250.00.
But now days with the cost of utilities it might pay for itself .

I cut a two inch hole in the dry wall at the top of my living room wall. I got some expanding foam in a can at Home Depot. I filled the wall cavity with the foam to insulate the wall. In the morning the foam had expanded in the wall cavity and pushed the dry wall out.

Might be true for regular cellulose, but I'm not sure that it is true for the sprayed-on wet cellulose.

Same as above ..... and you can certainly use the sprayed-on wet cellulose for a ceiling.

they sell a different kind of foam to stop that from happening it is called low expansion foam basically it expands to fill in gaps but does not have the expansion of the other kind so does not agressively push out sheetrock or stuff like that. I have used it and it works well

Has anyone here seen Foam made from soybeans ?

It's strange that this post migrated bact to the top. My arched steel building goes up in Feb, and i will be spraying the inside of the roof in a 14'x30' section for the apt. I am going to get the DIY kit, but am still researching which one. I need to cover 420 sqft, TigerFoam kit for 600 sqft is $650, which leaves extra........
