I'm sure the sales tax issue will differ county to county, state to state.

Surely. But I did just get an exemption. (That was easy!) Ooh! I might be able to afford the 3930 (if he drops the price)...

Well it depends on what portion of the population you look at. If you look at lawyers, I bet you would find a lot with impaired moral compasses. If you look at politicians - who are mostly lawyers - same deal only worse. jb

John -

I think you are generalizing a tad too much with your statements re: lawyers. Yep, we've all heard the lawyer jokes and people are quickly pigeon-holed when they become one. Truth is, the vast majority are honest, hard-working, dedicated and caring folks. My wife is one and my sister is another.

The same incorrect generalization could be applied to virtually any occupation - even tree farmers. ;)

Good luck -

Yeah but...

The finite minority.. the bad ones.. are so devious, wicked, and utterly devoid of humanity, that it really casts a dark shadow on the entir profession.

I've heard it said that 2 things in society horribly wretched.. but necescary.. War, and lawyers. That kinda puts it all into perspective.

1 tablespoon of fuel oil will contaminate 2000 gallons of pottable water. I realize your analogy is that the good lawyers are the 2000 gallons.. however.. the tablespoon of bad ones.. well... it makes the whole tank a mess.

On another thread we were discussing the recent tragic school shootings and someone said teachers should be armed. Someone else chimed in and said no they shouldn't because they are all child molesters. I was pretty darned offended. 2 or 3 on the news in the last couple of years and all teachers are child molesters? So, don't lump all lawyers into the seedy category either. Remember, they did take an oath to keep their client's business confidential. And, last I checked everyone was entitled to a defense no matter how much we might not want to give them one.

Yeah, right. So, my dealer (another dealer) just offered me a 6' Internation brush hog with the tractor he's trying to sell me. Made me think that he must be a teacher or lawyer or politician or bank robber, or something. And when I asked him why he replied, "Blue." There is an answer and there is a meaning to it, but I'm not yet sure what it is.

Or, to misquote from the first Star Wars... "Stay on topic! Stay on topic!" Oh, never mind...

I'm not lumping all lawyers into the seedy category. it's just that the 1 out of 100 .. or 1 out of 1000 that is a scheister is enough to give cause for misgivings when considdering sdealing with a lawyer. Same is true for bad mechanics. Not all are bad.. but you always wonder when you pull in whether you got one of the 999 good ones.. or the one rip off artist?
