What does everyone do to store and/or winterize their sprayer pumps? Obviously some ammonia or cleaner needs to be used to neutralize but do you spry some type of oil in them or anti-freeze?

I've always used RV antifreeze in my sprayer trailer and pressure washer.

One year I forgot to do it in the pressure washer. It burst. ;)

Automotive antifreeze in my pressure washer, to prevent the corrosion that killed my first one.

No idea about flushing a sprayer first.

Cleaning 1 gallon ammonia to 100 gallon water. Agitate let sit overnight. Run through sprayer following day then run clean water through. This is not the complete set of instructions I do.

To winterize I put several gallons of rv antifreeze in and run it through the system and leave it.

And i remove the filter bowl and leave it on the shelf. Learned this thru broken bowl 1 year.

I’ve used RV antifreeze, which reminds me I need to do mine.

RV antifreeze in mine also. No corrosion problems.

Ditto here on my pressure washer, blow it out with compressed air and fill it with RV antifreeze which, I might add, has gone up almost double what it was a year ago.
Since we can't get good gas here any more, I also drain the fuel tank and run the carb dry.

I guess I've just been lucky so far?

I just drain mine at the end of the season and leave the input hose loose to dangle off the end of the pump housing.

Now you guys are making me paranoid. Lol.

I do my best to drain everything and disconnect the hoses, but then I bring the actual PTO pump into the basement where it can't freeze. Pumps have gotten crazy expensive.

I rinse and drain the system. That's all. It is stored inside a barn that rarely sees freezing temperatures

My well water is very hard, almost have to break up the water to drink it LOL. That's another reason I blow it out and fill it with RVAF, figure it'll stop the minerals from building up when the water evaporates in the internals of the pump.

Appreciate it. Pretty much what I was planning on. Neutralizing and flushing with anti freeze.

The filter bowl removal was a good idea I had forgotten about.
