Sprayer setup

Actually, keep looking through the sprayer section at TSC. There are several nozzle clip styles (for square tube & pipe), and plastic elbows/ T's for the nozzles, and bulk hose & clamps. And so on. You probably won't find cheaper by scrounging around, they sell a lot of that stuff this time of year, pretty cheaply.

There are many nozzle types & sizes, figure out the volume of spray & the size of the droplets you need for your application (spraying trees vs spraying grass vs spraying for bugs will probably need very different volumes & droplet sizes...). They have straight-down fan tips, typically at 20" spacings, which are real popular for your type of spraying.

Re: Sprayer setup PART 2

Well, after ingesting more chemicals than one probably should due to having the sprayer in front of you, i went out yesterday and bought a 3pt carry all and set the sprayer up like this:

MUCH BETTER!

Re: Sprayer setup PART 2

Mathey,

That looks much better too. I had a feeling that you wouldn't like that sprayer up front, for just that reason. It's easier to see what's going on but harder on the body tissues.

How do you like your new sprayer? Will it spray to the tops of 12 foot tall trees? I have a few tall trees that need a couple of applications each year. I'm debating on whether to get the 12 volt model you have or to get a PTO driven pump version.

Not the way i have it set up in the photo. I would imagine you could modify the boom and its mounting to be up that high. Which is something i'll need to address next year when my trees are bigger.
The sprayer works really well for what i need it to do. As of now, we only need to spray once or twice in June for bagworms and the trees are only about 2 feet tall.

Re: Sprayer setup PART 2

Sense we are showing sprayer set-ups, I'll show mine. I have ran several hundred gallons through it and I can reach the pump and switch if I need to. I also have a switch mounted by the steering wheel in a switch block.

I stopped at TSC yesterday and I think I found everything I need. The options for nozzle tips is bewildering but I ended up getting 80 degree Fan Tips.

Putting it all together will be a project for this weekend.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Sprayer setup PART 2

Mathey, for what it's worth, this is the way I do it as well... I grew up on an apple orchard and knowing that the sprayer always follows the tractor (for reasons you have experienced), I decided to use the sprayer on a carry all.

Nice looking set up

Re: Sprayer setup PART 2

oh yea, one more note... experience with this set up has demonstrated that having lateral rails (sp?) set up is a wise move. I have a 65 gallon tank that slid off my carry all... I went back and set up a more permanent solution to ensure that this would not re-occur.... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif the fun part was waiting for the 65 gallons of water (luckily it wasn't insecticide) to drain.... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Re: Sprayer setup PART 2

A basic sissor lift would help anyone who is spraying high. Spitting into the wind was always something to avoid, too bad that folks have to find that out for themselves. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Re: Sprayer setup PART 2

This is the same setup I'm using now while my atv is out of commission, only I have a 25 gallon sprayer and home-made 6 foot boom. I use it to spray a 3.5 acre lawn for weeds, and for burndown before planting food plots.

mathey, you've probably already discovered this, but for others that have not, with the boom riding almost 4 feet behind the rear tires you have to watch the boom. When the front tires start up a bank the rear of the carryall (the boom) can dig into the ground unless you lift the 3ph.
