Learned about the Jap beetle last year at new home. Found out about "sevin" as a "cure".
Found some of the beetles out on the trees while weeding two days ago. Last year bought a 3 gallon spayer, using it the last two days.
Couple of questions from experienced people dealing with spaying and using sevin.
Using about 3 oz per gallon, 9 oz for the whole sprayer. Since I now have and idea from last year on what trees these buggers like to go, "pre emptive"
spraying some of thre trees they have not hit yet.
How often do I need to re-apply it or do I?
Is my "mix" about right? (directions for all those trees and mixes, not sure).
Hit the trees these beetles are on, 1/2 hour later, most are dead, do I need to reapply to the tree?
My understanding from last year is to get them before they hatch (?), while they are "spores" (?). Where do you know in the ground to get them? Or do you just do a "shot gun" effect on the land? And when do you start this process?
Debating right now if lay some traps down. Realize that this may bring more, and to lay the traps away from the trees.
Have about a good 4 acres in front of the house, good 40 trees of everything you can imagine growing. Would it be worth while to get a bigger sprayer with a motorized pump sprayer? Only have a pickup truck, no ATV, thinking about putting in back of the pick up truck and just drive around spraying all the trees from the p/u. Is this worthwhile and worth the money, or should I just keep refilling and hiking the property and spray? Thinking about a sprayer from northen tool or some place like that, not sure what to look for.
Any suggestion would be appreciative.
