I saw a 500lb capacity spreader at TSC and I was shocked at how big it is. I have read real good things about the Herd M96. Any others? I am going to use it for lime (probably pelletized), fertilizer and seed. In a rare situation salt.

Here is what I have and use them on my BX's.
The Green one I use (now) for grass seed only. It's a Ferguson Overseeder. I don't use fertilizer in it any more because the fertilizer is so corrosive and wants to eat up the metal turning impeller in the bottom. I use the Red/Orange funnel shaped one on the right for lime and fertilizer. I don't fill it all the way up because it becomes pretty top heavy and my property slopes. It has an impeller that is supposed to be more resistant to corrosion but I still wash it out really good after each use.
Oops! For picture lovers I included my first Kubota Sep 2003 a BX2200. I built the pad and bought the tractor before I built my house.:)

i have a spyker electric model 120 mounted on a 3 point hitch on the rear of my bx along with a 100 lb hopper extension. . it is/was a pricey proposition. i am a believer in spyker spreaders, so i followed thru with it . . . it ran about a gee wiz.
retrospectively, i wish i had looked harder at the herd 96 spreader. about half the dollars.
of note, the hopper on my spyker electric model 120 is plastic , i suspect it will still require the mandatory cleaning after each use . . . that all spreaders require. shrekbelly

I have not considered electric. Is there an advantage to that? That is alot of money for a spreader!

I have one but have not used it - try you tube you can find videos of them in action - they fling some stuff for sure !!

I plan on using mine in the spring for seed and fert and for spreading corn next year during hunting season
