Thinking I'd like a 3 point spreader for my L2501 series Kubota. I'd like it to spread Lime, moss killer and grass seed, other things if needed but what I don't know. My question for those knowing of such things is; what brand and model if possible will meet the needs and be reliable for maintaining 20 acres. I would use it each spring for moss control, lime for feeding grasses and re-seeding where needed. Can I assume many spreaders are adjustable to broadcast most anything I would use or is this an issue for some units? I would be buying off the Net as dealers here don't stock much any longer so looking and kicking a tire or two is tough now.

Thanks for the help.

It depends on your wallet and what your work load is going to be.

The smallest Vicon Pendulum Spreader will do all you want with no issues for all the materials and you can purchase the proper pendulum tube for the material you want to spread. You will waste much much much less material and you will save money simply because the pendulum spreader will eliminate overspread and you will not waste materials like expensive grass seed.

The Vicon Pendulum spreader is easy to clean and the delivery mechanism is a regulating gate and the pendulum gearbox that delivers the seed to the tube as it swings from side to side.

You can also purchase a bucket that mounts on the spreader discharge to adjust the spreaders flow to avoid wasting seed or fertilizer or lime whether its hydrated lime or pelleted lime.

The all metal spreaders will rust unless you are vigilant about washing them out and tearing them down to paint them every year.

The Vicon Pendulum spreaders have poly hoppers and a sealed gearbox and cam arm that is easy to clean.
They will fit any mule you put it on and the next one if you upgrade to a larger frame size.

You can still buy a ground drive spinner spreader but the fight with the rusting is going to require a lot of work and paint and the spreading will not be as well regulated as a Vicon pendulum spreader.

Leonz - Reading their website now; you are not kidding about wallet size! My work load is smallish I'm thinking but I do like quality. Thanks for the lead on this.

I have a Vicon I picked up used for a fraction of the original cost. Good machine for fertilizer. I didn't think it was practical for lime as it can only hold 400 pounds of product when my lime recommendations come in tons per acre. That is a lot of reloading. Good thing about that is most places selling lime provide a spreading service or rent a lime spreader at nominal costs as do fertilizer mills.
