Sorry to be a pest, but we need some means of pest control at home. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

My wife tells me we need to spread some kind of grub killer in the fall, each year, for 2.5 acres. We would probably find other users, like weed killer, maybe sanding the driveway, who knows?

Do I want a PTO or pull-behind implement? I will have (as soon as it's delivered!) a JD 4300. Which type of device would you recommend?

Thanks,
Bob

I asked the same question a few weeks ago. I will be getting a PTO powered Landpride spreader. They offer 3 different sizes ranging in price from $410 to $450, depending upon capacity. The problem with pull behind used with larger tractors is that it's difficult, if not impossible, to reach the controls on the spreader from the operators seat.

Mike,

Got a link for this thing? I looked at the Landpride site, but it wasn't immediately obvious which ones you were referring to.

Thanks,
Bob

I have a small 3 point-pto drive spreader. the type TSC sells for about $200, it only holds 50lbs for fertilizer, but it workd good. The reason I like pto, I can adjust the trottle for the witdth I need, I find my self in reverse alot around around trees and fences. Hope this helps

Hi DDT,

...the type TSC sells for about $200...

TSC?

This one sounds good, but I've just confirmed my newbie status.. no idea who TSC is.. do you have a link, or can you at least decode the acronym for me?

I didn't know one could buy a PTO device so cheaply.. sounds good, especially since I can forsee using this thing once or twice a year at most.

Thanks!

Hi Mike,

I asked the same question a few weeks ago. I will be getting a PTO powered Landpride spreader.

I just bought one today. I did as much research as I had time for, and then took the plunge. My tractor gets delivered on Tuesday, they tell me, and the spreader should be here sometime next week.. so.. if there isn't snow on the ground by then I'll be set to spread this grub stuff.

As an aside, a dealer told me today that the grub killer would be banned as of next year.. we won't be able to buy the same stuff we're used to. In my case, I'm not used to anything yet, so this may not present a problem. But I gather new regulations are going into effect, at least in NYS.

Thanks for the pointers!
