Nothing is as simple as it seems! I was planning on spreading some manure on my hayfields this weekend. The manure is not fresh, so I'm not worried about parasites. One farmer neighbor told me not to spread any more manure until right after the first cutting. Another farmer neighbor told me, since the hay is just starting to grow, now is the perfect time. Now I'm confused!!/w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

When should manure be spread in the hayfields?

Thanks!!!!

Rich,
Once your crop is up and going spread it anytime. The only time you have to worry about spreading is if you spread it too thick and smother the grass. If you've got a good spreader though spread it anytime.

If the grass is already growing then spread away. When the pile gets to big out it goes.
