Spring Ahead, Fall Back

Unless they recently came onboard, Indiana doesn't change.

There are parts of Indiana that don't. But I do know the area around Evansville does change.

I've been to Attica several times to an off-road park. They didn't.

Isn't that odd?? What a mess if you live next to the "don't change" line??? Course I guess it would be just as bad to live next to the "time zone" line......

I think we should spring ahead and fall ahead even further so that it's not dark at 6pm in the winter. ..would be nice to have a couple of hours daylight in the winter for after work to be able to do things outside...

It's dark here before 4pm in December.

There have been efforts to get New England put into Atlantic time with Nova Scotia. That would effectively put us in DS all the time. I like it.

Does Arizona still not use Daylight Savings Time? I was doing gas leakage surveys for gas companies in the summer of 1994 in several towns in West Texas. If I had a gas company employee with me, we usually started at 8 a.m. When I worked alone, I started earlier; just as soon as there was enough light to read the serial number on gas meters without a flashlight. And then I was sent to the eastern edge of Arizona. A one hour time zone difference plus no DST, so it was like waiting until 10 a.m. to start to work, since they had an employee with me all the time. The job itself, and the people I dealt with, were just fine, but I hated the hours.

Speaking of the time zone line, I was fortunate to grow up in northern Idaho, just five miles from Montana, which was an hour ahead of us. On new years eve you could go to the State Line House in MT and celebrate for 40 minutes, then go ten miles west to the Moyie Club and do it again. Not too many places where you can do that.

The border for eastern and central time is about 30 miles east of me.

Bird, Arizona does not observe Daylight Saving Time; they use Mountain Standard time year-round.

I have driven from the midwest to Arizona several times and if you want to keep your watch set correctly it gets confusing. Especially if you get to AZ in early March, before the rest of the country changes time for DST, then leave AZ sometime after the DST change.

I'm still not finished changing all my clocks. I still have the garage, two car radios and the barn left. And then, there's always a couple more that pop up several days later, like my camera's built-in clock, telephone answering machine and the like. I really hate these time shifts.
