My family and I will be spending spring break in Virginia this year. We will be in the Charlottesville area and was wondering what we will be in store for weather wise. We plan on being there March 20th through the 26th. I also need to keep two girls busy (9 and12) so what kind of activities are there in the area?

Not sure I can help you but hopefully, you won't have weather like we've had in Northern Virginia this week. Monday was 70 degrees at my house, a beautiful day. Tuesday, 2 inches of snow and 25-30 MPH winds, temperature dropped to 25 degrees by mid day, take your pick!

Seriously, highs should average in the mid to high 50's that time of year I believe.

Yep,

74 to 34 in 12 hours. And the 34 is *NOT* factoring in wind chill.

Biggest difference I have ever seen and lived through in this area.

Man its cold here bring winter attire we are expecting snow tomorrow. Spring looks like a couple of more weeks off. Next week we will barely get above 40's. Ski resort just outside of town is loving it.

Forgot to add, go see Monticello [Thomas Jefferson home] 1 mile down road see Ash Lawn [James Monroe's home] have lunch at Miche Tavern best fried chicken cooked colonial style on way back should take most of the day. Next day spend touring UVA. Charlottesville is known for fine dinning there are so many good places to eat. It all depends on how much you want to spend. But a good location is the downtown walking mall they closed off the old section of downtown many years ago and made it pedestrian traffic. There is like 12 blocks of neat shopping and restraunts really can't go wrong with any choice there.

Thanks for all the help guys. We will actually be staying at Massanutten's by McGaheysville. I would like to do some skiing again, but it's been less than a year since I broke my leg, and almost 15 years since I've been skiing, so we'll have to see how that plays out. We might go to Williamsburg for a day, and maybe go to a winery or two. Monticello is definately on the "to do" list.
I'll make sure to bring everything from short sleeve shirts to my Carharts and cover all the bases /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
