So you have the original fuel tank that's holed up and have rigged the lawnmower tank as a temporary fix?

When you get around to fixing the tank, post some progress photos. The tank on my Minneapolis Moline BF is so rusted inside that I'll split it along the seam, clean it, and solder it back together.

I believe I will braze or solder it up.

put a test gauge on her this weekend and oil pressure IMHO is fine. I printed the owners manual and 12psi looks like a safe spot..

the upside down spinner is on a bad section of wheel..

I got a spare wheel for her..

got home from work ealy and pulled the gas tank out of the soapy water vat, wire wheeled the flange at the bottom where it joins the tank.. i can see a ban solder joint there, and a bad old reapir.

fluxed it up, and ran some plumbing solder around it... cleaned it up with the wire wheel and a red rotary disc, flipped her over and filled with water and let er' set.. no leaks...


got some more of the tin pulled off.. she's all but naked now.

cut some patches for a couple small pin holes inthe side panes and noste i found.. stitched those in.. they are now ready for bondo.

havn't even touched the hood yet.

repacked the front wheel bearings..

cleaned up the fuel tank tap and it's read you reinstall after paint and whatnot.

bought a couple quarts of perimer in anticipation for a painting day .. soon maybee..

Lookin good. How much rust (if any) came out of the fuel tank? The tank on my BF was loaded with interior rust and had a few pinholes.

no rust.. is shiney and bright inside.

when the prev owner stopped using it due to the leak, it looks like he put a couple ounces oil in there.. looked like 80w, and then closed the fuel petcock, and put the cap on... preserved it 100% just had a cracked solder flange at the bottom somehow.. was easy to celan up and resolder..

2 ys ago I'd have said epoxy coat it.. but now with ethanol.. i dunno.. i;ve heard of some people with 'old' tank liners getting gummy..

if she's all holy, but cosmetically ok.. the tank in a tank may work fine.. good idea actually. I've sleeved a cylindrical/ round gas tank on a tractor before...

well, today got eat up by busy work. lots of sanding and buffing and bondo . hood side panels are primed. hood is rough sanded, and still has a couple spots of glaze putty that needs sanded.. then needs finish sanding. same with nose.

tank is ready to be sanded.

all i had time for before work.

thank goodness for heatguns. used them to strip decals last night after work.. to help me get to sleep..
