Hi all. Been slowly working on a driveway up a steep hill. While removing top soil about halfway down the hill i was into some pretty wet soil. It had been pretty wet the week before so i did not think much about it. I was out there this last weekend and water is still there, and slowly flowing down the hill. Basically it has been doing this since i started digging (over 2 months now.).
Does this sound like a spring? If so, am I in trouble with locating the driveway here? (unfortunately i dont have too many other options for relocation. ) I had been worried about finding water out there, as many neighbors (about 50-60 feet lower than my building site), have very slow wells. Funny there is water up on a hill.... or maybe not???

It's probably just a wet spot. I installed field tile for 2 years and quite often I have seen more water 3/4 of the way up the hill than at the bottom. In fact, I have a spot in my yard just like that. Water will work it's way out of the ground in strange places. Is there any way you could make a ditch near your driveway to let the water escape before it saturates the surface of the road? One good way to get rid of it would be to install some tile but that gets into more money than most people want to spend including me.

Could be a perched water table.. or some water collecting on top of an aquaclude.
