hey there i just got off the phone with the dealer that i purchased my tractor from, a 4520 e hydro w/jd brand canopy, frt. weights, 1 rear scv. without tax. $26,000. if you wanted an aftermarket canopy about $600.00 less, the jd comes with lights, liner on the underside etc. like i was saying before, if you need a price quote let me know and i'll help you any way i can. hang in there, i know how it is, you made up your mind on a new tractor and now set backs, making it not so much fun anymore. larry
p.s. by the way, my salesman told me that they would rather sell 10 new tractors and make 1 grand each than 2 new tractors and make 5 grand each, that way they have more customers coming back to purchase parts, accessorys, etc. plus the volume of tractors a dealer sells also helps on lots of other issues with the company, he didn't explain what he meant but i got the picture.

I got my new 4120 powrrev with 400x loader, loaded rear R1's, block heater for 22,700 no tax, no trade in Oct 05. There is a lot more demand for used ford than MF. Is that 3000 gas or diesel? Gas are a little harder to sell these days because of high fuel prices but this might be a good time of year to try as they are a lot better starting in the winter than the old 3 cyl diesels. The diesels will go a lot longer without an engine rebuild. The new JD 20 series start very well in the cold with or without the block heater.

Ford's a diesel, Massey's a gasser. Masseys sell 10 to 1 better than Fords in this area. (Great reputation and great dealer network) Also, I've had better luck selling gassers when they get old. There's nothing more pitiful than a worn-out diesel.

I made a few calls yesterday, to a couple friends that have expressed interest in buying either tractor. I've got 'em dropping by this weekend to take a look.

The Massey 150 is still a very good tractor. The Ford would be with an engine overhaul.

I'm having an increasingly difficult time rationalizing spending this sort of money for something I can do without. The plan sounded good at the start, but the numbers just don't add up. I might just spend a few bucks on the Ford and Massey (engine overhaul on the Ford/New rubber on the Massey)

A new tractor sounded good, but so does keeping $$$$$$$$ in the bank.

Look at a 400 series Massey. I paid 35k for a cab, 4wd,1060 fel with bucket and spear, 491(77 pto hp). You could really save some $ by going to a 461 platform.

Trading in is almost always heart breaking for us thrifty penny pinchers. It is always better to sell it yourself. If you don't have time now, keep them out back until you do and apply the money to the note later when you do sell.

I thought about trading in my 4310 with less than 200 hours and found out I would have to take about a $4000 loss. Too much lost money for me to do the deal. My dealer wasn't being unfair. I had to compare to what he could get a new one for himself and what someone would pay for mine used. I don't mind them making a profit cuz' I want them to be there for me in the future. If I decide I need another machine, I'll sell mine myself. Then, I'll go wheel and deal on the new machine.

The price they gave you for the 4520 is too high. You can get that tractor here with the FEL for a tiny bit more than that! So shop around! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
